We are beyond thrilled to announce that we have been nominated for a Henries 2018 award!
Our beautiful card range, Charcoal & Sparkle is a finalist in the Best Art Range category, an enormous achievement which had us jumping for joy around the kitchen when we found out!
The Charcoal & Sparkle range is dear to my heart as it’s a collaboration with my daughter, artist Phoebe Boddy and myself. Each of the cards feature our charcoal animal drawings and is complemented with silver hot foil details, which gives each card a beautiful twinkle and sparkle – hence the name!
The Henries are essentially the Oscars of the greeting card world and being named as a finalist is something we are incredibly proud of.
According to industry leader PG Buzz, a whopping 15,000+ greeting cards and wrappings were entered into this year’s competition.
This year’s Henries Judging Panel reads like a ‘who’s who’ for the greeting card industry, including buyers from Paperchase, Scribbler, WHSmith, John Lewis, Oliver Bonas, Between the Lines, Sainsbury’s, Fenwick, Longacres Garden Centres, House of Cards, Postmark, Moonpig as well as a host of leading independents from right across the retail spectrum.
PG Buzz noted:
‘The judging process of The Henries involves all entries being mounted on boards, each of which is given a designated number, but the identity of the publisher is concealed. The entries were then put on display in their categories. Each judge was asked to select individually what they deemed were the best five entries in each category. These votes were then correlated with five points given to all first choices, four points to all second choices and so on.
“After a fabulous Judging Day yesterday, it is wonderful to be able to reveal such an inspiring line-up of finalists,” commented Jakki Brown, joint managing director of Max Publishing (owner of Progressive Greetings and The Henries). “The finalists reflect the abundant creative dynamism within our industry, with the ranges hailing from UK publishers of all sizes; from leading established players to brand new start-ups.”
Named after Sir Henry Cole (who introduced the first commercially produced Christmas card over 160 years ago), The Henries were introduced by Progressive Greetings Worldwide magazine in 1996 as annual awards to shine the spotlight on greeting card ranges.
Winning a Henries award is a huge achievement and we are eagerly awaiting the awards ceremony on October 4 when the winners are announced.
